Little Free Library

These book-sharing boxes give 24/7 access to reading and bring community members together to share their joy of the written word

The Little Free Library is a non-profit organization that strives to give everyone access to free books. Anyone may take a book to read for free without having to give up one in return. The library uses the honor system to ensure that there are always books available so book donations to a library are welcomed.

Recently, GPARC installed several Little Free Libraries on City property, and visitors can enjoy sharing books all year. In addition, GPARC has constructed more libraries, which are awaiting installation. It has been a team effort. GPARC obtained funding and chose locations based on convenience and accessibility, such as parks and near schools. Local Scouts have built most of the libraries. Artists from the area have decorated the libraries with images of birds, plants, Gaithersburg events, and more.

  • Non-fiction focused on animals, sports, science, Black history, cooking, crafts, and current events.
