ABOUT US

GPARC

The Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation (GPARC) has three Alliances, one for each of the organization’s focus areas. The Alliances for Parks, Arts & Culture and Recreation provide increased opportunities for expanded & sustainable efforts in each of these vital interest areas. GPARC is a nonprofit organization that promotes awareness, engages public and private partnerships and raises resources to support new and matured parks, arts and recreation initiatives of the City of Gaithersburg. GPARC is an expansion of the former Gaithersburg Arts and Monuments Funding Corporation, a charitable organization whose mission was to heighten the awareness of revitalization and arts initiatives within the City of Gaithersburg and to raise funds and use those funds to support those programs and initiatives.

Mission

The Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation (GPARC) is a nonprofit organization that promotes awareness, engages public and private partnerships, and raises resourcing to support new and matured parks, the arts and recreation initiatives of the City of Gaithersburg.

About GPARC

GPARC is led by a Governing Board and has oversight of three special interest groups or “Alliances.” Friends of groups for specific programs and/or projects are aligned under one of the three Alliances. GPARC’s project and fundraising efforts are based in the goals and objectives of the Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) Element of the City’s Master Plan.

Alliances

The Alliances are the activators–the people with the passion to identify needs and create sustainable efforts to support parks, arts and culture and recreation. Join an Alliance and put your passion to work!

Board Membership

Appointed by the City of Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council, the GPARC Board of Directors provides oversight and guidance on policies and procedural requirements to its Alliances and associated Friends of Groups. Board composition includes a Chair, three Vice-Chairs who also serve as Alliance chairs, individuals not necessarily associated with an Alliance, and non-voting City staff. The Board meets quarterly and has responsibility for governing GPARC’s activities, including financial and legal, and for producing GPARC activity and financial reports to the City.  Board of Directors>
