Friends of Groups

Members of “Friends” groups and like-minded community groups are the doers – people who are passionate about and involved in a specific activity. Friends groups are fundraising entities and will operate under a set of established guidelines from the Governing Board in support of City programs, projects, events and activities.

While we all may lead busy lives, helping the community is something that we should always make time for. Not only does giving back give you a great sense of community, but there are surprisingly many benefits to uplifting those around you.
When you give back, you’re able to better the lives of the people around you – your loved ones, the people in your community or the lives of people somewhere else in the world. And finding meaning by giving back to the community doesn’t just benefit others – it benefits you.

Working TOGETHER to ensure all citizens have access to wellness and recreational resources!

The Alliance for Recreation is a group of like-minded individuals and organizations working TOGETHER and with area businesses and the City of Gaithersburg to ensure all citizens have access to wellness and recreational resources that are available for use and enjoyment in the City of Gaithersburg.

TOGETHER We help build a healthy community through:

Development of funding vehicles to provide scholarship opportunities for youth and sports programs to those that may need financial assistance to participate in City programs.
Identification and establishment of health and recreation programs not currently funded by the city, that assist in meeting city goals and objectives.
Creation of ancillary programs that are aligned with the city’s Master Plan that help further engage the community.

Encouragement of local businesses and community members to get involved in participating in the Alliance for Recreation through volunteerism or sponsorship.

Participate

Collaboration between artists, arts organizations, and businesses to generate new opportunities and
inspire discoveries. Through collaboration, partnerships can evolve to pool resources and offer high-valued
workshops or fulfill much needed space requirements. Creative collaboration can inspire artistic growth,
new ideas, and expanded opportunities.

Volunteer

The contributions of volunteers are vital to the continual enhancement of the quality of life in Gaithersburg. Through their selfless dedication and commitment, volunteers actively participate in various initiatives that uplift the community and foster a positive environment for all residents.

Sponsor

Your financial and time contributions will directly contribute to the success and continuation of the Alliance’s initiatives. Whether it’s funding specific programs, supporting ongoing projects, or becoming a member of the Friends of Group, your involvement will play a crucial role in ensuring the accessibility and vibrancy of the arts in our community.

HOW THE ALLIANCE FOR RECREATION WORKS
GPARC is a non-profit that works with the city of Gaithersburg to promote awareness, engage in public and private partnerships, and raise resources to support Parks, Arts, and Recreation programs and initiatives. We have a great group of people who know that Gaithersburg is the greatest city in Maryland, and rely on people and businesses in the community to keep making it better.

The Alliance For Recreation , one of the three pillars of GPARC, focuses on Building a Healthy Community.
Our overarching goal is to make sure that all citizens have access to health and recreation activities throughout the City of Gaithersburg.
We are looking for community partners to help grow our programs and activities.
